What happens when Openreach install fibre

With Full Fibre installation, we’ll upgrade the master phone socket (the white box on the wall) and install an Openreach modem (ONT), which connects to the fibre optical cable that comes into your house.

The ONT enables you to get our fibre broadband and phone services, and connects to your BT Smart Hub.

Can I pay Openreach to install fibre

Unfortunatley there is nothing you can do. You can’t pay extra to get a better service.

Your only options are satellite broadband, or getting a leased line but leased lines cost around £500-600 per month and are really aimed at businesses.

Is Openreach free

How long does Openreach take to connect fibre

Typically, installation (of both elements) takes about two hours. A fibre cable is fed from the nearby Connectorised Block Terminal to the outside of the premises, either from a nearby telegraph pole or underground chamber.

Most broadband providers, except Virgin Media, G Network or Community Fibre, use Openreach to access broadband in their homes.

Can you use Openreach van for personal use

No personal use at all is permitted in the work vehicle, however, you can flex off work up to 1 hour a day as long as you have built this up and you have finished your work (maximum of 6 hours flex balance allowed).

Why is Community Fibre so slow

Unfortunately, copper and standard fibre connections simply aren’t built for such high capacity and often slow down your speed during peak hours to counter this.

Our 100% full fibre broadband can deliver the same incredible download and upload speeds without slowdown during peak hours.

Can you watch Netflix on Community Fibre

It’s 4K-ready too, and includes catch-up apps like iPlayer, plus streaming apps like BT Sport, Amazon Prime, and Britbox.

You’ll need to sign up and subscribe to those separately, though. And note that a few are missing, such as Netflix, NOW, and Disney+.

Overall, it’s fine.
